A more confident Green Bay Phoenix team hit the road after winning four straight games at the Resch Center but their troubles away from home continued Wednesday night, falling to Horizon League leading Valparaiso 73-61. It was Green Bay's ninth straight road loss dating back to last season. Turnovers early put the Phoenix in a hole, trailing 27-11 in the first half. Green Bay battled back, closing to within 61-58 with just over two minutes to play but a three point hoop from the Crusaders' Ryan Broekhoff, the reigning conference player of the year, extended the lead. A couple of empty trips and the Phoenix was forced to foul. They committed a season high 26 fouls and Valpo made it hurt even more by knocking down 27 of 33 free throws. Alec Brown led Green Bay with 18 points, Kiefer Sykes added 15. The Phoenix (10-10, 4-3) stay on the road Friday night, taking on the Panthers at UW-Milwaukee.
