GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The Green Bay Police and Fire Commission has chosen Tom Molitor to be the next Chief of Police.
Molitor has been serving as Interim Chief since July to replace Jim Arts, who left to work for the Tennessee Titans as head of security.
The Police and Fire Commission says it has directed the city to offer Molitor the job provided he can meet employment requirements.
Molitor retired in June of 2011 as assistant chief. He has been with Green Bay Police Department since was first hired as a cadet in 1980.
Since taking the reins, Molitor has been implementing the complete rollout of the Intelligent Led Policing model that the department switched to at the beginning of 2012.
Molitor was one of four finalists for the position.
The city is now in the process of hiring a new Fire Chief.
Filling the position was put on hold until after the city explored options of moving to a public safety model that would combine police and fire departments. In November a report found it would not be an ideal way to cut costs , would be harmful to moral along with interal conflicts.
