The Green Bay Phoenix took down in-state rival UW-Milwaukee Tuesday night 78-61 before over 3800 fans at the Resch Center. 7-1 Junior center Alec Brown had a huge night, scoring a career high 28 points on 10 of 12 shooting from the floor including four of five shots from three point range. Kiefer Sykes put up 18 points and Greg Mays added 15 for the Phoenix, who improved to 16-13 on the season and 10-5 in the Horizon League. The Panthers ended their regular season at 8-23 and 3-13. They were led by Paris Gulley with 19. Milwaukee was within five at 58-53 with just over six minutes to play but the Phoenix went on a 15-1 run, sparked by two three's from Brown to put the game away. The win, coupled with UIC's 60-55 victory over Wright State, puts Green Bay in sole posession of third place in the conference with one game remaining, at home Saturday against first place Valparaiso. If the Phoenix wins, they will earn a first round bye in the conference tournament.
