GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Back to school supply shopping could get a reprieve from Wisconsin sales tax under new legislation being proposed.
Green Bay Repetitive Chad Weininger along with Fond du Lac Sen. Rick Gudex are calling for a back to school sales tax holiday weekend in early August.
Weininger says it’s about helping working families stretch the dollar. Weininger also sees stores hopping on board with other sales on items that could increase savings for families.
The bill would not apply a sales tax on certain priced clothes, instructional materials, general school supplies, computer supplies, as well as computers themselves.
