State Capitol: Your call cannot be completed as dialed

MADISON, WI (WSAU) -  If you’ve been trying to call your legislator unsuccessfully, rest assured they’re not ignoring you. The problem isn’t a Democratic or a Republican issue. It’s a construction accident.

State Senator Julie Lassa from Stevens Point says everyone on both sides of the isle wants to improve communication this week.  "A construction crew in downtown Madison on Monday afternoon accidentally cut phone lines that service the Capitol as well as the Wisconsin Department of Justice, so people are having difficulty calling in to the Senate, the Assembly, the Supreme Court as well as the Governor’s office.”

The severed phone lines have made it difficult to conduct everyday business. In Lassa’s office, they are down to one working phone line... and it’s not the number listed on the directory or web page.

Lassa says instead of calling, it would be wise to email your Representatives and Senators this week.

The damage to the telephone cables was extensive. Lassa says they are not optimistic about having full service restored this week.  "They're saying the phone outage might last for a week or more.”

Email addresses are listed on legislator’s web pages. You can find your Representative or Senator by going to wisconsin.gov.
