MARINETTE, Wis. (WSAU) -- A child died in a fire at his home Friday morning.
The blaze engulfed a mobile home near Marinette, Wisconsin as a family of four was sleeping. Menominee County Sheriff’s deputies say the parents and an 8-year-old girl were able to get out, but 8-year-old Nelson Charles Williams became trapped. Firefighters were able to get to him, buy lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
Williams died of smoke inhalation. The other family members all had minor injuries. A deputy sheriff was also treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
