Poacher busted for shooting over 22 deer

by

GALESVILLE, Wis (WSAU) - A Galesville man has been charged with illegally hunting deer on a farm in Western Wisconsin.

33-year-old Mark Kamrowski is accused of shooting at least 22 deer on a farm during the last three years. Kamrowski was already violating a court order not to hunt, trap, or fish for three years due to previous conservation law violations.

Conservation warden Chris Shea says, “The involvement of the local residents who truly value their natural resources was huge in the case the wardens were able to bring against Mark Kamrowski. This case is an example of how the local citizens can partner with local conservation wardens in protecting the resources for current and future generations to enjoy.”

Kamrowski will now have his hunting, trapping, and fishing privileges suspended for nine years. He must pay $6,847.75 in fines, court costs and restitution; serve two years of probation; and, complete 80 hours of community service with 10 days of jail time -- stayed if community service is completed in one year. Kamrowski also forfeited a trail camera and two white tailed deer racks.

Kamrowski hunted on a large farm between Galesville and Arcadia. Wardens said the property was large enough where many of the animals never left the property.
