MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s housing market continues to recover.
The Realtors Association said Monday that its members sold almost 7,300 existing houses in July. That’s about 17 percent more than in the same month a year ago.
The median selling price of those homes was almost $155,300. That’s 9 percent more than at this time in 2012.
For the first seven months of this year, total home sales by Realtors were up almost 13 percent from the year before. The median sales price for January through July was $142,900, an increase of just over 7.75 percent.
Renny Diedrich, who heads the board of the Wisconsin Realtors, says it’s a strong year for Wisconsin housing – and all indications are that the upward trend will continue.
Diedrich said 43 percent of all sales in a typical year occur between May and August – and as long as the Wisconsin job market improves, her group expects the housing market in the second half of 2013 to be as strong as the first half.
