MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - A man suspected of killing a Milwaukee woman in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday night was convicted of a hit-and-run misdemeanor six years ago.
Court records show that 48-year-old Edwood Hastings of Milwaukee was also convicted of vehicle theft in 2001, and misdemeanor theft in 2009.
Charges have not been filed in Sunday’s hit-and-run crash that killed 32-year-old Andrea Barringer. The district attorney’s office is expected to review the case in the next day or two.
Police said Barringer had left a café on Milwaukee’s east side when she ran across Farwell Avenue to try and beat the traffic. Witnesses said Hastings was speeding when his car struck Barringer – who became engaged just two days earlier.
