WAUKESHA, Wis. (WSAU) - Waukesha Police said a man apprehended during a campus lockdown today may have done nothing illegal.
Carroll University was put under a lockdown status late this morning. Folks were urged to stay inside campus buildings, after a report of a 50-to-60-year-old man carrying a long gun near the school tennis courts.
Police Captain Ron Oremus said officers learned the man’s name, and took him into custody at his apartment near the school. They confiscated a non-lethal air gun – and considering the nature of the weapon, officials were looking into whether the man broke the law. Regardless, Oremus said police have to take these things seriously today.
