MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - A state probation and parole agent is free on a signature bond, after she was accused of threatening to send offenders back to prison if they didn’t pay her hundreds of dollars.
44-year-old Sandra Alvarez of St. Francis is charged in Milwaukee County with three felony counts of misconduct in public office.
Prosecutors said Alvarez asked three offenders on probation for money between September and December of last year. She allegedly told them she needed to feed her kids, drive one cousin to Chicago, and get another cousin back to New York.
Officials said one offender paid her $1,400, another gave $850, and a third gave $100 in order to stay out of prison.
Alvarez is due back in court May 2nd for a preliminary hearing.
