MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin agriculture officials did not have to look far to find its new state veterinarian.

Dr. Paul McGraw has been the assistant state vet for the last nine years. He was named Friday to replace Dr. Bob Ehlenfeldt, who retired recently after 27 years in the post.

McGraw is from Dodgeville. He was a private veterinarian for 16 years before joining the state ag department.

The state veterinarian handles efforts to prevent, control, and keep track of various animal diseases. The office also supervises training efforts for local humane officers, and dog license sales personnel.
