FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) - A judge in Fond du Lac County has ordered Carly Ottery to pay over $70,000 in restitution to the families of her friends killed in a crash.
As Judge Dale English explained his decision Wednesday, FOX 11 reports Ottery screamed out, "How can you do this to me?"
The families of Sabrina Stahl, Katie Berg, and Caitlin Scannel requested the money to pay for the cemetery monuments and lost wages associated with the crash and subsequent funerals. Defense attorney John D'Angelo questioned the amount being spent.
The parents of all three victims answered questions in court about the expenses.
Ottery and 8 friends were joyriding at more than 100 miles per hour when Ottery lost control of the van, crashing it near Campbellsport in February 2012.
She was convicted of three counts of homicide by negligent use of a motor vehicle, and sentenced to probation and community service - but no prison or jail time.
