Up to a half-foot of snow possible in west central Wisconsin starting Wednesday

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Just when you think winter might be over, another blast of snow is predicted for west central Wisconsin this week, with up to six more inches possible.

The National Weather Service has winter weather advisories posted from 1 a.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Thursday night for Polk, St. Croix, Barron, Pierce, Dunn, Rusk, Chippewa, Eau Claire, Buffalo, Trempealeau, Taylor, Jackson, and Clark counties.

Forecasters say the region will start getting sleet and freezing rain Tuesday night – and a small ice buildup is possible before 3-6 inches of snow start falling Wednesday night and Thursday.

Other parts of Wisconsin could get freezing rain, showers, and thunderstorms on and off during the next three days.

The Weather Service says the storm system will dump up to a foot of snow in west central Minnesota before it crosses into the Badger State.

Forecasters say a chance of rain or snow will stay in the forecast each day into the weekend.
