Badgers offensively challegened in 16-13 OT loss to Michigan State

by

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The second-longest home winning streak in major college football was ended by a 12-yard touchdown pass in overtime which gave Michigan State a 16-13 win at Camp Randall Stadium.

That’s the first home loss for the Badgers since October 17, 2009.

The Spartans won by totally shutting down a Wisconsin rushing attack which had gained more than 800 yards in the last two games. The Badgers managed just 19 yards Saturday, their lowest output in five years.

Montee Ball was held to 46 yards and James White to 16.

Wisconsin quarterback Joel Stave was 9-of-11 for 127 yards and a 31-yard scoring pass to Jacob Pedersen, but he was hurt on the first play of the second half and Danny O’Brien had to take over.

In overtime, the Badgers scored first on a 43-yard field goal. Michigan State kept it on the ground until quarterback Andrew Maxwell tossed the game-winning TD pass.

Wisconsin’s record falls to 6-3, including a 3-2 mark in Big Ten Conference play. The Spartans are 5-4, including two wins in five conference games.
