GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is recommending a familiar name for northeast Wisconsin's busiest highway when it becomes an interstate.
DOT officials ask that U.S. Highway 41 become Interstate 41 when it's converted to interstate status.
Spokesman Kim Rudat says a decision from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the Federal Highway Administration is expected in about a month.
Other designations which had been under consideration were I-47, I-594, and I-643. The highway from Green Bay to the Illinois border would get the designation as an interstate.
