MARINETTE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - A State Trooper in Marinette County is retiring and officials aren’t planning on filling the vacant spot.
State Patrol Capt. Nick Scorcio says they have a limited number of resources and have to make do with the best they have. There is greater need for the State Patrol in more populated areas, especially along Hwy 41 and Hwy 43 corridors.
Right now the lone trooper provides additional response to what the Sheriff’s Dept. is already taking care of.
Scorcio says the position may not be filled until the next class of graduating recruits.
The last class graduated in March of this year and before that it was a three year span between classes. Scorcio says the earliest he foresees filling the trooper position is possibly by next fall.
