Report: Prosecutors recommend jail time for ex-Walker aide Rindfleisch

by

MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Milwaukee County prosecutors are recommending jail time – but no financial penalty – for an ex-Walker aide accused of doing campaign work on taxpayers’ time.

The Journal Sentinel said it obtained a letter from prosecutors late Wednesday morning which spells out a plea deal for Kelly Rindfleisch.

She was accused of doing campaign work for Governor Scott Walker and lieutenant governor candidate Brett Davis, while she was supposed to be working as Walker’s deputy chief of staff in the Milwaukee County executive’s office.

The district attorney’s proposals are just that – and Circuit Judge David Hansher can issue his own penalties when Rindfleisch is sentenced.

Prosecutors said they would not object to work release privileges, if Rindfleisch gets any jail time at all. They said it would be okay to delay any jail time if she appeals her conviction. And the deal allows Rindfleisch to continue appealing any pre-trial requests that were rejected – including a release of her private e-mails.

The 43-year-old Rindfleisch was scheduled to go on trial Monday on 4 felony counts of misconduct in office. There was no immediate word on which charges would be dropped or amended.

She’s scheduled for a plea hearing Thursday afternoon before Judge Hansher.
