GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Volunteers are urgently needed to ring bells at Salvation Army red kettle locations in both Green Bay and the Fox Cities.
Right now, about one-third of bell ringing shifts are covered in Green Bay.
“With less than a month until Christmas, we desperately need that bell ringing percentage to be much higher. A kettle with a bell ringer can make more than $60 in a two-hour shift. One without a ringer doesn’t bring in more than $2,” Captain Ken Shiels with The Salvation Army of Brown County said in a release.
In the Fox Cities, help is desperately needed this Friday for the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Red Kettle Match Day. Thrivent will match donations dollar-for-dollar for up to $125,000 at more than 50 Fox Cities Salvation Army red kettles.
“Of the 372 shifts required to have 100 percent coverage on a match day we currently need about 96 more shifts filled to help ring the bells,” said Robb Waugus of The Salvation Army of the Fox Cities in a release.
There are also three other match days next week in the Fox Cities that need volunteers.
To become a bell ringer, you can sign up for a kettle site at ringbells.org.
