LA CROSSE, WI (WSAU) -  La Crosse’s Mayor will not seek a second term in office. Matt Harter is the city’s youngest mayor ever at age 24. During a news conference Friday, Harter acknowledged the often rocky relationship he’s had with the City Council and said electing a new mayor will “provide the opportunity for a fresh start.” Harter told the media he discussed the matter with family, friends, and colleagues and believes more progress will be made if someone else serves La Crosse as mayor. He did not say what his plans are after leaving office.
