The Green Bay Gamblers swept a weekend series from the Youngstown Phantoms, skating in their old haunts, the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena. Moved next door from the Resch Center because of the WIAA Girls State Volleyball tournament, the Gamblers shut out Youngstown Friday night 5-0 behind Mike Rotolo's 27 saves, and completed the sweep with a 3-1 victory on Saturday night. Green Bay (4-7-2) was also missing a couple of key players and head coach Derek LaLonde as they are with Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge taking place in Nova Scotia, Canada. Rotolo followed up his shutout performance by stopping 38 of 39 shots in the Saturday night victory that wasn't clinched until Kevin Irwin slid one into an empty net. Green Bay hits the road for a three game weekend set against Indiana Friday night and a return engagement against the Phantons with 2 in Youngstown Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
