MADISON (WSAU) A Dane County judge turned down a request for a temporary injunction that would have blocked the voter ID law from taking effect. The NAACP requested the injunction as part of a lawsuit they filed.

Circuit judge David Flannigan said there was no evidence of permanent harm that warranted blocked the law, which goes on the books later this month. The NAACP’s challenge – claiming some groups of voters will have greater difficultly casting ballots – comes up for oral arguments next Monday.

There are also challenges from the League of Woman Voters, and a federal lawsuit by the ACLU.
