Packers land 3 in Pro Bowl

The NFL announced the Pro Bowl rosters Wednesday night and the Packers had three players named to represent the NFC.  Aaron Rodgers will be the starting quarterback for the second year in a row, earning his third Pro Bowl trip.  Clay Matthews continues to make history, getting selected for the 4th straight year at lineabacker.  Matthews is the only Packers player in history to make the Pro Bowl his first four years in the league.   And there was one surprise.  Veteran center Jeff Saturday, who made the Pro Bowl five times during his career with the Indianapolis Colts, was named as the backup center in his one, and likely only season in Green Bay.   Just last week, Saturday was benched in favor of Evan Dietrich-Smith.   Randall Cobb and Josh Sitton were named first alternates. The San Francisco 49ers led the way with nine selections, the Chicago Bears had five players named, Brandon Marshall, Julius Peppers, Henry Melton, Charles TIllman and Tim Jennings.  The Minnesota Vikings had three players picked, Adrian Peterson, Jared Allen and rookie kicker Blair Walsh.  The only Detroit Lion on the team is superstar wide receiver Calvin Johnson.  Robert Griffen III is the only one of three rookie quarterbacks who have made a splash this year to make it.  Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson were bypassed.  Former Packers fullback Vonta Leach has become a Pro Bowl fullback with the Baltimore Ravens and ex-Wisconsin Badger JJ Watt was named to the team from the Houston Texans.  The Pro Bowl game is played in Hawaii the Sunday before the Super Bowl.
