Badgers to tab Anderson

The Wisconsin State Journal reported late Tuesday that the University of Wisconsin will name Utah State head coach Gary Anderson as the successor to Brett Bielema who took the head coaching job at the University of Arkansas.   A formal announcement hasn't been made but a source told the paper "it's a done deal.".  Athletic Director Barry Alvarez can't make the announcement until Thursday at the earliest, the end of the mandatory two week period once the job was posted.  Anderson just completed his fourth season at Utah State, guiding the Aggies to a Western Athletic Conference title at 6-0, going 11-2 overall including a 41-15 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl game victory over Toledo last Saturday.   Anderson's Aggies nearly upset Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium in September, losing 16-14 after his team missed a 37 yard field goal with :06 remaining.  The 48 year old had an overall record of 26-24 at Utah State, taking over a program that won only 9 games in the four years prior to his arrival.  He also spent 11 years as an assistant at Utah.  He was on the staff that led the Utes to a stunning upset of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl in 2008.   Anderson ran a spread offense at Utah State, averaging nearly 35 points a game.  His teams played excellent defense too, ranking 8th nationally in scoring defense and 15th in total defense.
