UW-Oshkosh comes up short in 28-14 loss to St. Thomas in D-III semis

ST. PAUL, MN (WTAQ) - St. Thomas jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, then held on to beat the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and qualify for the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl next weekend.

The Tommies scored on the first play from scrimmage when defensive lineman Ayo Idowu picked up a bad pitch and returned it 25 yards to the end zone. The Titans turned the ball over 4 times in the 28-14 loss.

Quarterback Nate Wara accounted for both Oshkosh scores with one passing TD and one rushing. Wara hit 20-of-34 passes for 266 yards.

The Tommies take on Mount Union in the title game in Salem, Virginia, next Friday.
