MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Mistakes they usually don’t make doomed the Wisconsin Badgers in their in-state rivalry game in Milwaukee against Marquette.
Following the lead of Junior Cadougan, the Golden Eagles beat UW, 60-50, Saturday.
The Badgers made 14 turnovers, about half again the average. They also shot 33 percent from the field and 39 percent from the free throw line.
Marquette scored the first 7 points of the game and never trailed, but the Badgers were able to pull close twice in the second half.
In each case, Cadougan stepped up and helped his team maintain its lead. The senior point guard hit 7-of-10 shots, took down four rebounds and dished out a half-dozen assists, with only one turnover.
The Badger offense was so anemic, nobody scored in double figures. Jared Berggren and Ryan Evans each scored 9 points.
Marquette’s record improves to 6-2, while Wisconsin falls to 6-4.
