KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Thanks to beefed up party patrols over the weekend near the Western Michigan University campus, a pedestrian who was struck by a car at West Michigan and Howard did nothave to wait long for emergency personnel to appear.   

The 28-year-old victim was trying to cross West Michigan from a convenience store when he was struck about 9PM Saturday by a car that had just turned onto Michigan from Howard.   

It appeared he suffered serious head injuries and was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital where his condition is improving.   

His name has not been released.   Police say the pedestrian appeared to be the one at fault.
