EASTON, Wis (WSAU) A test drilling for a possible gold deposit in eastern Marathon County got the go ahead this week from the state DNR. Aquila Resources, A Canadian based company wants to to search for gold in an area east of Thornapple Creek Road in the town of Easton.
The test drillings could begin next week to determine the how much gold is there and what the quality would be. It could take a year after that to assess the findings.
The DNR guidelines include a minimal disruption to wetlands in the area. The company says they have their eye on other deposits in the state. The current high price of gold makes it more feasible to make searches like these.
