MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - A former genetics researcher at the University of Wisconsin will be on probation for two years for giving false data to federal reviewers.
Elizabeth Goodwin has also been ordered to pay $50,000 restitution to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services -- and a like amount to a UW-Madison scholarship program.
Goodwin pleaded guilty last June to charges she had made a false statement. She admitted she put false information in a progress report to convince the feds her lab had made more progress than it actually had.
Goodwin resigned 4 years ago after graduate students complained and the school conducted an investigation.
