OSHKOSH, Wis. (WTAQ) - Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ron Johnson has about half as much campaign money on hand as incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold.
Newly-released campaign reports show that Johnson had $1.6 million in the bank as of August 25th, to $3.1 million for Feingold. Johnson is the GOP’s endorsed candidate in a three-way primary September 14th, with the winner to take on Feingold in November.
The new reports show that Johnson has spent $4.5 million so far this year, while Feingold has spent $4.2 million. Also, the incumbent has raised $3.7 million dollars so far this year.
Johnson has only raised $1.8 million – but he did not enter the race until May, and his total does not include $4.4 million dollars of his own money that he has budgeted so far. Johnson owns a plastics packaging business in Oshkosh.
