SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man with three previous OWI convictions is in trouble again after allegedly driving drunk with his son in the vehicle.

William Orvis IV is facing his fourth Operating While Intoxicated conviction after being arrested Sunday in the City of Sheboygan after the Coast Guard spotted him leaving the marina with an open container of beer.

According to the criminal complaint, the 41-year-old Orvis told police he had six beers that day and had stopped drinking a half hour before getting behind the wheel of his pick-up truck. The officer could smell the strong odor of intoxicants and Orvis was ordered to perform field sobriety tests. He also registered a .116 on a preliminary breath test and was subsequently taken into custody.

A fourth OWI conviction carries a maximum penalty of fines up to $2,000 and up to a year in the county jail. However, because Orvis’ 8-year-old son was in the truck, the maximum fine and jail time could be doubled with the OWI conviction becoming a felony offense.
