MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - It was raining in most parts of Wisconsin Wednesday morning – but it still wasn’t enough to wash away the recent air pollution. The DNR has issued another air quality advisory until 9 a.m. Thursday for three-fourths of Wisconsin’s 72 counties. All but the far north and far northeast are affected by this latest advisory – which was issued because fine particles are not dissipating as quickly as usual.
The DNR says emissions from things like power plants and vehicle exhausts are hanging in the air longer – and that poses a risk to kids, seniors, and those with heart and lung conditions. Those folks were urged to delay strenuous outdoor activities. The northern half of the Badger State had rain late Wednesday morning, as did the eastern areas near Lake Michigan. Parts of southern and southwest Wisconsin had fog. Rain is in the forecast in much of the state at least through Friday, and maybe into the weekend.
