LUCK, Wis. (WTAQ) - An anti-nuclear group in northwest Wisconsin has raised enough money to keep its quarterly newspaper going. Nukewatch said last fall that its December issue might be its last, after 30 years of advocating non-violent resistance to nuclear weapons and nuclear power plants. But now, co-director John LaForge said Nukewatch has bounced back from a down period last summer, by holding a few special appeals and fundraisers. One of those events was a concert by Rachael Kilgour in Superior during the weekend.
Nukewatch is published in Luck. It's been involved in some of the nation's largest anti-nuclear movements, including the one that shut down the Navy's ELF submarine communication base at Clam Lake in Ashland County.
