MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (WTAQ) - Brett Favre is reportedly flying to Minnesota. The NFL Network says the 40-year-old quarterback boarded a plane for a flight north today.

Later, WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg, Mississippi says Favre departed Pine Belt Regional Airport at 1:15 p.m. Eastern on a flight headed to Minnesota.

The NFL report added that Favre's official website had issued an e-mail to members of the media, stating:  "Stay tuned for breaking news from the Minnesota Vikings today on Brett Favre's possible return."

Favre's trip north comes after Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, offensive guard Steve Hutchinson and kicker Ryan Longwell traveled to Favre's home in Hattiesburg, presumably to talk to the signal-caller about coming back to the team.

The "Minneapolis Star-Tribune" reported the three friends of Favre were sent to talk him about returning for a 20th NFL season.

The signal-caller has said his decision on whether to return or retire hinges on his health. Reports last week said the future Hall of Famer had met with orthopedist Dr. James Andrews to discuss his surgically-repaired left ankle. Dr. Andrews operated on the ankle earlier this offseason.

It was a year ago this week that Favre signed a two-year pact with the Vikings, ending his second retirement.
