It always seems right around the 4th of July, that I reflect on how much I hate winter. As I hear people complain about how hot and muggy it is, I often think to myself...just wait 'til the snow flies. Every summer seems to go by way too fast. As hearty Midwesterners, we've grown used to it. I for one, refuse to regret wasting another summer before the tight grip of winter sets in. I'd always get mad at myself for not doing more outside during the warmest season. Now, I look for reasons and excuses to soak up as much sun as possible. Not only do I get a healthy dose of vitamin D, but I no longer sit at home when it's cold wishing I did more while it was nice. My two young daughters love the outdoors as well. Whether it's running to the park with them, a bike ride through the city's trail system or a casual kayak trip down the river, there are so many opportunities to get outside and enjoy basking in the sun. Not to mention, the outdoors are always FREE. * image courtesy of: Pixabay.com
