Packers keys to a prime time win

by Ryan Fantozzi

The Packers take on their second NFC North opponent of the season tonight against the Minnesota Vikings. It will also be the first of two straight division opponents. Time to get to what the Packers need to do to win one last time in the Metrodome.

1. Don’t allow Ponder to extend plays- The Packers will have their hands full with Adrian Peterson running whether he is 100% or not. Christian Ponder is not the best passer out there but he is the most athletic QB the Vikings have and he does have the ability to scramble out of the pocket and make some plays on the run.

2. Jared Allen vs. the OT- There have been rumors of Jared Allen being traded since he is in the last year of his contract. I wouldn’t mind that seeing he plays some of his best games against the Packers. Whoever he decides to line up over throughout the game whether it be Don Barclay or David Bakhtiari might need some help chipping.

3. Take a few shots- The Packers are pretty decimated at the play-making positions but the Vikings lost impressive second-year safety, Harrison Smith for a few months. Jordy Nelson will probably be getting a lot of attention but if the run game can open the play-action passing look for a few rainbow shots to Nelson.

4. Tight ends stepping up- With Jermichael Finley out for an unannounced period of time one of the back ups needs to shine. Andrew Quarless is known for his blocking but was also an athletic tight end coming out of Penn State several years ago. Brandon Bostick will have his time to shine. Several teams asked about him in the preseason to see if they could pull off a trade but the Packers kept him around for a reason. Tonight he will have a chance to prove why the Packers kept onto him.

Packers get the W in primetime, 30-20.
