Athletes Vs Twitter

by Joe

I'm for athletes being on Twitter but when they aren't knowledgeable about the situation or they use it recklessly it defeats the whole purpose. Whether they like it or not, athletes are role models to the public and they should be using their platform to better help people understand the things they're talking about. Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White took to Twitter Saturday night after the George Zimmerman verdict and had this to say:

He apologized the next day, but that defeats the purpose. You have a platform to discuss the situation and you say the jurors should go home and kill themselves? Roddy White, you sir, are a jackass and I hope the Falcons continue to not win any Super Bowls while you're there.
