I genuinely enjoy what I do for a living. Each day I look forward to turning on the mics and bellying up to the bar with all of you to shoot the proverbial excrement. It’s spontaneous, it’s thought provoking, it’s nonsensical, but above all, it’s unifying. And for that reason, more than any other, I am so excited for today’s program.
Politics is a lot like sports. There are teams, there are mascots, there are labels, and there are contests. But where politics and sports are forever diverse is in this regard: at the end of an election, the teams are called to work together for the good of the people.
Tragically, across our great country, and especially in this great state of ours, both political parties (and the many tributaries) have succeeded only in becoming more like sports – it’s about sinking the other guys and extending the middle finger to their fans.
Like most, I am past the point of being annoyed with the political landscape. I am legitimately ashamed of what the process has become and how we have devolved as a populace to this condition of intrastate hate.
I am so very thankful that I collect a paycheck to embrace the oasis in this desert of disgust. No matter one’s race, sex, economical status, or political view – the team colors unite the people of this great state.
So here’s to a fantastic mid-day of sports talk radio, folks. Come on in out of the heat for a cool drink, where I couldn’t care less if you support Walker or Barrett or the guy next door. All are welcome here.
