On a day when opponents of the new heightened TSA regulations have encouraged folks to opt out of the Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) scan at an airport near them, it appears the vast majority have opted out of heeding that call. At least in the early going, no airports are reporting delays due to AIT objections.
Score one for common sense.
"We are giving up our liberties in exchange for security theater. I don’t believe we are really more secure by what TSA is enacting," said Brett Bittner, one of the protest organizers.
Security theater? Are you kidding me? Hey Brett, how about the real-life security threat that is airline terrorism? The images you watched on September 11th, 2001, weren’t played out in a Hollywood studio in front of a live television audience. I really don’t care what YOU believe, Brett. At some point you have to be an adult and trust that the authorities on this matter just might know otherwise…just might not want a plane to be used as a missile again…just might not want you to die…and just might be employing the greatest measures at our disposal to ensure you live.
Is standing in front of a scanner with your arms raised while an individual whom you cannot see, does not know you, and couldn’t care less about what you’re naturally packing, takes a peek at a grey outline of your body really an affront on your liberties? Yes? Well, a dude packing explosives is his undies is an affront on my beating heart.
You don’t like the security measures? Drive.
