Keith Olbermann will no longer share football night with America, according to a report by SportsByBrooks.com. Citing “multiple media and network television sources,” SbB writes:
“I’m told that NBC News officials requested the move, citing Olbermann’s weekday commitment to MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann. During the 2009 NFL season, Olbermann periodically did not appear on Friday editions of Countdown.
Network television sources confirmed to me that Olbermann’s departure from FNIA was not due to any conflict with cast or production crew members. I was also given no indication that Olbermann’s politics had anything to do with the move.”
I’m not a fan of Keith Olbermann the man, but I did appreciate what he brought to “Football Night in America,” primarily a wildly entertaining rapport with Dan Patrick.
D.P., Costas, Rodney Harrison, and the rest of the cast…they’ll be fine. I’m sure the show will be fine. I just don’t know if it’ll be as amusing.
