Packers General Manager Ted Thompson summed it up rather simply, saying, "we were not comfortable clearing him to play again."  Green Bay released 7 year veteran safety Nick Collins Wednesday, fearing one more shot to the neck could be career ending.  Collins was injured in the second week of the season and underwent single fusion surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck.   While he has received encouraging reports from some doctors, the team's medical staff wasn't ready to reach that same conclusion.  The former second round pick in 2005 was named to the Pro Bowl three straight years in 2008, 2009 and 2010 when he helped the Pack to the Super Bowl title with a huge pick six against the Steelers. The move also clears angother 3.4 million dollars in salary cap space but leaves a void in the secondary that may have to be addressed by Thompson in this weekend's draft.
