The Green Bay Packers will get an early start in 2012. The NFL released the Pre-Season schedule and the Packers will play the second exhibition of the schedule behind only the Hall of Fame Game between Arizona and New Orleans in Canton, Ohio the first weekend of August. Green Bay will open Thursday night, August 9 in San Diego against the Chargers. It will be a national ESPN game at 7:00 PM. The rest of the all AFC slate has Green Bay playing the Cleveland Browns at Lambeau Field in week two. It will be the annual Midwest Shrine Game. The date hasn't been firmed up yet but it will be between August 16-19. Week three will have the Packers travel to Cincinnati to play the Bengals between August 23-26 and the finale will be against the Kansas City Chiefs in the annual Bishop's Charities Game at Lambeau either August 30 or 31. With the early pre-season opener, training camp could begin around July 26. Under the collective bargaining agreement, clubs can report no sooner than 15 days before the first pre-season game. That would be Wednesday, July 25. The first practice could take place on the 26th. The schedule would also force the annual stockholders meeting up a few days. It's traditionally held a couple of days before the opening of camp. The 2012 regular season schedule is expected to be released within a couple of weeks, it normally comes out just before the NFL draft April 26-28.
