Bidding for their first world series berth since 1982, they were eliminated by the team that denied them the championship 29 years ago, the St. Louis Cardinals who battered Milwaukee pitching in a 12-6 rout at Miller Park Sunday night to claim their 18th National League pennant in 6 games.
