...and this was supposed to be the easy one.   Opening the final quarter of the season at Ford Field was supposed to give the Packers momentum heading into a trio of toughies down the stretch, instead, a stunningly inept 7-3 loss to the now 3-10 Lions leaves Green Bay in need of substantial help to make the playoffs at 8-5.  Detroit was forced to start their third string quarterback in Drew Stanton and the Packers were forced to turn to their second stringer when Aaron Rodgers left the game for good three snaps after suffering another concussion.   Matt Flynn put up a game effort but made a couple of big mistakes, an interception in the end zone when the team could've gone up 10-0, and a wrong way spin on a third and one at midfield that lost 4 yards and brought about a punt.  The Lions marched 80 yards on that posession with Stanton hitting tight end Will Heller on a 13 yard screen pass for the game's only touchdown with just under 8 minutes to play.  Flynn took one last shot at victory but his 4th and 1 deep ball to Greg Jennings from the Lions 31 was overthrown with a minute to go.  Flynn wasn't the only one who made mistakes, Jennings dropped what should have been a 73 yard touchdown and the ball caromed into the hands of Amari Spievey for an interception.  On Green Bay's opening series which started at midfield, Andrew Quarless fumbled at the Detroit 35 after a 12 yard catch.  Even more glaring was the play in the trenches.  The Lions defensive front overwhelmed the Green Bay offensive line.   They picked up 4 sacks and held the Packer running backs to 31 yards on 15 carries.   Conversely, the Lions offensive line paved the way for 190 yards rushing on 41 carries, many of them Stanton option runs (4/44), end arounds and even double reverses. He completed only 10 passes and just one downfield throw, a 44 yarder to Calvin Johnson for his only catch.  He didn't have to throw to be effective.  The fact that the Lions came out with more energy, inspired only by putting an end to a 19 game losing streak within the NFC North, versus a Packers team fighting for its playoff life, was very puzzling to both me and Mike McCarthy, who warned his team about a tenancious bunch in silver and Honolulu blue at the final team meeting Saturday night.  Aside from Rodgers concussion, McCarthy said Daryn Colledge suffered a knee injury and did not return.  He was first replaced by Jason Spitz who struggled and was subsequently replaced by TJ Lang.  Looking for a bright spot?  Might be punter Tim Masthay who outkicked Nick Harris.  Each had 8 punts.  Masthay averaged 50.5 gross and 43.4 net with a long of 62 while Harris managed a 44.3 yard gross average, 38.3 net and a long of 51.  Here's what the coaches and players were saying at Ford Field after the game.
