I don't know how far back "yo mama" jokes go on the human timeline, but they've got to be as old as time itself. As was said in the movie Stand By Me, "Finding new and preferably disgusting ways to degrade a friend's mother was always held in high regard."
Everybody knows 'em...everybody has used 'em - well at least every guy I know has used 'em. It was always the playground default when all other options were exhausted. Then it just became cool to play the dozens, so to speak, entirely dedicated to your opponent's mom.
But with Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I thought it fitting to offer up this video - it's a "yo mama" battle (of compliments):
