Welcome Back Ninja Rap!

by Nick Vitrano

I was a HUGE Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan growing up.  Most threw their allegiance behind Michaelangelo – you know, the funny one.  I was more into the mysterious workings of Raphael.  Not only the most complex character of the group, he possessed, hands down, the best weapon, the sai.

From action figures to bedding to culinary delights, TMNT fever spread through the adolescent realm like a norovirus.  Today one measures social impact by the number of re-tweets and Facebook shares.  Back in the early 1990s, you knew a trend had staying power when Hostess embraced it with some kind of themed treat.  To this day, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pie remains my favorite Hostess delight of all time.
