Jimmy Kimmel blurs the lines

by Nick Vitrano

Every once in a while a tune comes along that, no matter how many times I hear it, no matter how many times I play it, I never tire of it.  That’s Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.”  I cannot get enough of it.

I don’t know exactly to what all of the lyrics refer.  I have my own theory; I’ve heard a lot of other theories; I’ve heard some of Thicke’s responses to the theories, and have decided that I really don’t care.  It’s just a solid funk-style song.  The truth is that if we took the time to analyze the lyrics of every song we hear, we’d be appalled by the messages contain within many of them.

The song has spawned a lot of parodies, another indication of its cultural influence.  I can’t believe I missed this one when Jimmy Kimmel put it out there.  It’s fantastic.

Here’s the original video in case you haven’t seen it.  It definitely adds to the Kimmel experience to be familiar with it.  It is the “rated version” but still heed the warning above.
