Aloha Eddie!

by Mark Daniels

It's been a heckuva week for Packers running back Eddie Lacy.  On Monday, he was named the NFL's rookie of the year by the Pro Football Writers of America.  Wednesday, Lacy found out he's got an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii for a week.   Lacy was named to the Pro Bowl squad. Originally voted as an alternate, Lacy will be an injury replacement for Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings.

Green Bay's second round draft choice out of Alabama piled up 1178 yards on 284 carries and scored 11 rushing touchdowns in his first season, breaking all three franchise rookie records.  Lacy also tied a Packer record with 4, 100 yard rushing days as a rookie.  He finished 8th in the NFL in rushing yards and was third in rushing touchdowns.

Lacy becomes the first Green Bay rookie running back to make the Pro Bowl since John Brockington in 1971.  He's the first running back to represent the Packers in Honolulu since Ahman Green ended a run of four straight Pro Bowl appearances in 2004.

This will be the first Pro Bowl that won't have conference affiliated teams.  Instead of AFC vs NFC teams, the players selected with be drafted this weekend by Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice. The game is set for January 26 at Aloha Stadium.
