I WAS CAUGHT ON CAMERA! Posted January 28, 2010 by John Maino

Camera

Heyyyyyyyyyyyy i want to thank everybody for stopping by Festival Foods for our Haitian Relief effort. you folks were fantastic...nearly $30,000 has been raised so far. There was however one unfortunite incident,.. unbeknownst  to one of the individuals assisting with the collection efforts, Festival Food stores are saturated with surveillance cameras. Thus, if an individual innocently forgets to pay for a cup of coffee, (due to concentrating on his collection efforts) it is possible that this person could possibly have his photo captured and sent out to all of the Festival stores in the state of Wisconsin. This really could happen! so as a warning please do not slide into the sorid world of crime. You may be forced to do time...and worse than anything....those camera's really make you look much "stockier" than you really are.........

Something is wrong with me! Posted January 26, 2010 by John Maino

Brutis Beefcake

Somethings wrong with me....don't worry i can hear all you people , (well actually the few of you who actually read my blog.)....saying.."You're telling us there's something wrong with you????" anyway....I want to be so happy and giddy that the Vikings got beat that this should be one of the best days of my life. ..don't get me wrong...i'm ecstatic...but i'm also felling sort of hallow...becasue as much as it hurts to say this, the Wrangler guy added a certain something to football this season that is gone. There's a reason that Pro Wrestling has villians...they add passion to the ring. Just watching a couple of beefy guys toss each other around would get pretty boring. but "back in my day" you'd have the "Mad Russian" (how could you not hate a "commie" )you had the Iron Shiek...evil Nazi characters type villians as they battled the lovable Killer Kowalski and  the Crusher....now i'm not comparing the Wrangler guy to any of them, but with the biggest sporting event of the year coming up how do you stir up any strong feelings for either Payton Manning or Drew Bree's?? you just can't do it...i want to despise one of them, i want to hear that Payton hates Italians, i keep searching to see if Drew ever stole a quarter from the candle box at church..errrrrrrrrr wait a minute that was me...you know now that i think about it....they could use me in the Super bowl...Brutis Beefcake doesn't have a thing over me!

WEEKEND!!! Posted January 22, 2010 by John Maino

HI!

...Normally this is one of my favorite weekends of the year...ranks right up there with Final Four weekend for college basketball and the opening weekend of deer season...even though i don't really deer hunt much anymore i start getting jacked-up knowing that venison sticks are on the way---a true staple of the Maino/Atkins diet.
but this weekend is going to be tougher than most...and maybe a lot less enjoyable. it pains me to say this but right now, as of this writing, I truely believe the Minnesota Vikings are the best team in football. Do you know how hard it is to admit that???? Forget the whole Favre drama....the Vikings would be the best team with Gary Cuozzo at qb....you have to go wayyy back to remember Gary Cuozzo....I do not want the Minesota Vikings to win. plain and simple. which means they almost certainly will seeing as how i do so lousy picking games. In fact i can come up with a list of things i would rather experience than the Vikes in the super bowl.

1. I would rather have Jay Leno's chin...Conans hair and my paycheck...than to see them win.
2. I would rather defoliate Murphys head every morning live on the air...than to see them win.
3. I would rather go on an "All you can eat" diet of Katie's 3-layer jello, cherry pie and fruit pizza...than to see them win.
4. I would rather try to steal candy out of the hands of Brady Popenga's kids at his Halloween Party than to see them win. (btw this will never happen seeing as how murphy and I are never invited to his annual party.)
5. I would rather make out with Nancy Pelosi in front of my high school buddies...than to see them win. (Ok maybe we're getting carried away here....i think you get the point.....

Who Dat...Who Dat..Who Dat gonna beat them Saints!!!!!!!

What's on TV? Posted January 20, 2010 by John Maino

Mentalist

you know what is great about this time of year??? you can sit your "fat, flat" "round" toned"...(pick whichever adjetive fits best, )
butt on the couch at night and not feel guilty for "wasting" time watching mindless tv. I know alot of people are big into American Idol, but i'm sorry, that show just does nothing for me. Maybe its because some of my musical efforts have been panned in the studio and by some--not all--listeners, that i actually feel sorry for the people when they get ripped by the judges and kicked off the show. No you won't find me watching and discussing that show at all...now if you want some good tv......Still love the Mentalist...(can't wait until he goes after Red John) NCIS, (did you know that Mark Harmon was an all american qb at UCLA?)  and if you haven't seen Mad Men, find a way...seriously, if you remember the '60's at all...you have to watch this show!!! however it does come with a price...you will acquire an urge to start drinking early in the day, to begin smoking if you don't smoke, and see a consistant theme of co-workers who smile and say nice things which stabbing you in the back. Hey wait a minute, was i talking about Mad Men or working with Murphy and Katie......damn it!!!, where's my flask??????

Lots of stuff HAPPENING! Posted January 19, 2010 by John Maino

Big Belly

you know what feels good...i mean real good...stepping on the scale and being three pounds lighter than you were a week ago........ok it's only three pounds, big deal right???? well it feels a heck of a lot better than during the holidays when it seemed like i was putting on a pound of fat a day! for anyone else who is following the no-carb diet let me know how its going for you. i'm hoping to lose 12 pounds in about a month.....tried the low-carb pasta...you can't tell the differnce from teh real thing, you can buy the Billoti pasta sauce from the jar, it only has 3-carbs per serving....

ok other stuff, have you ever seen anybody have more fun playing football than Brett Favre is having??? love him or hate him, he's havinng a lot more fun now than he ever did here. or at least since the Super Bowl runs in mid 90's...

Haitian Crisis Day

...I hope everyone finds a way to get out this coming saturday for a major fund raiser/supply drive for the victims of the Haiti earthquake...this might be the worst disaster in history...we've all got to find a way to help out.....hope to see you all there...more details on the way....  ....

Maino's Top Five Songs Winners!! Posted January 15, 2010 by John Maino

Dynamite!

First of all....Thak you to all who voted on my top-five songs....also i would like to say Mea Culpa to all of those who took part in our text contest today, Believe it or not, Whiskey in a Jar was in the lead. unfortunitly Katie screwed up the entire contest and Murphy was only too willing to void the entire deal. I'm sure it had nothing top do with the fact that other than his mom and the guy who stood next to him in swing choir were the only ones who voted for "My Sharona." by the way that is a picture of Murphy in high school at the top of this blog.

anyway....our winner: Jeff and Sandy...congratulations!!!!!! they hit it nearly right on

Roger Whitaker-The Last Farewell
Kanye West-Golddigger
Dean Martin-Baby It's Cold Outside
Whiskey in a Jar-Metalica
and "any Kid Rock song."

Nice job Jeff and Sandy...you are now the proud owners of a pair of Gamblers tickets and a personally autographed "Breakfast witht he Boys T-Shirt. It just doesn't get any better than that..now does it.

Ok big weekend planned...I've got to make home-made dried fruit, beef jerky and no-carb pasta. Whoever is going to follow my no-carb plan for two weeks, stay away from bread, cookies, pasta, beer, pizza.....eat....cheese, jerky, all meat products..and if you must have booze....beware of the carbs in the wash.....good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Out of my mind! Posted January 13, 2010 by John Maino

Aaron Rodgers

I’ve given it sometime to settle. That taste in my mouth from Sunday’s game is finally starting to disappear. It took awhile. It was sort of like the time when I was a kid and had to take One-a-Day vitamins. I thought it would be a good idea to chew the tablet. Worst tasting thing in the world. Or the time I thought Jaggie's and late night taco's would be a good idea. I'm not going into details on that one...

But I just can't get some of those plays out of my mind... Greg Jennings running free downfield and ball juuuuuust out of his reach... A-Rod having his facemask ripped off and the zebra standing there with his mouth open but instead of making the call choking like Momma Cass tearing into a 12-inch meat lovers special.

It's over... it's really over. No more waking up Sunday mornings and getting that feeling in the pit of your stomach. No more checking the injury reports to see who is in and who is out. None of the stuff that makes living in Northeast Wisconsin from September to January so phenomenal. It's over... how do you fill the void...? Ice fishing? snowshoeing? watching old movies??? I don't know... I don't know... help me people!!! Don’t make me go back to the Jaggies and tacos to ease my pain...
