Homeward bound...it was one of the most popular songs on the radio for American troops while serving in Vietnam, which makes it that much more ironic for one Green Bay vet who never thought he would be making a return trip.
Jim Umentum was 19 yrs old, literally drafted off the farm and shipped to Vietnam. In 1968 that meant one thing, find a way to survive for one year. Watch his story in this episode of The Maino Project on NBC26, including that one last mission that was almost the end for Jim.
This is the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam war, please keep those Vietnam vets in your hearts and minds.
